Coogee Bay Road upgrade

Construction workers have completed the first stage of street improvements along Coogee Bay Road and will down tools on the project as of Monday 3 December to make way for the summer period, Randwick Mayor Kathy Neilson announced.

“We’re really pleased that construction of the new street upgrades has progressed according to plan and that we can conclude the first stage before the busy summer and Christmas period gets into full swing,” said Mayor Neilson.

Stage one of the works focused on footpath works along the south side of Coogee Bay Road, from Arden Street to Vicar Street, and Arden St outside Coogee Bay Hotel.

Coogee Bay Road will return to being a two-way street, footpath barricades will be removed and visitors will enjoy new, wider footpaths on the corner of Arden Street and Coogee Bay Road.

The completion of stage one of the works will give residents and visitors to the popular beachside stretch a glimpse of how the street upgrades will look once the rest of the upgrades along Coogee Bay Road, up to Brook Street, have been completed next year.

Work on stage two of the Coogee Bay Road street upgrade is scheduled to restart in March 2019, which will include new street furniture, landscaping and the planting of 12 new Callery pear trees.
