Architecture talks

Architecture on show

Each year Council hosts the ‘Architecture on Show’ series of talks with the Australian Institute of Architects. The Institute curates these talks which aim to create a better understanding of good architecture and design.

These popular talks showcase local design excellence including award winning projects from Council's Architecture and Urban Design Awards. Talks are free and provide a place for the community to hear first-hand from leading architects and designers.

Previous talks have focused on various topics including:

  • Green architecture and One Central Park (Chippendale)
  • award-winning residential projects
  • the winning design of the K2K Urban Design Competition
  • light rail urban design approaches
  • heritage renovations
  • Newmarket Stage 1

Council started video recording the talks in 2018. We’ll record all future talks and post them below.

She graduated with Distinction from Design Centre Enmore and set up The Design Commission in 2011, providing residential design services for clients undertaking renovations and new build projects. Andrew Macdonald – Allied_Office

We were very honoured to win the Best House category in the Randwick 2020 Architecture and Urban Design Awards with our House 15/75 project on the edge of Centennial Park.

Whilst the project was completed under Mi Architects; we have recently joined forces with longtime collaborator Telly Theodore under the new name Allied_Office.

Our focus is on finding appropriate and enduring responses, through a legacy of rigour, response and responsibility. We seek to work with high calibre residential & commercial clients, who understand the complexities of procuring architecture in an increasingly regulated environment.  We look forward to describing this approach through House 15/75.
