Eat History

Eat History - A Celebration of History Week: September-December 2011.

History Week's 2011 theme, Eat History, was marked with an exhibition at Bowen Library of kitchenalia loaned by residents. Highlights included a hand embroidered supper cloth passed through four generations of the one family, butter pats, tea cups and an old Sunbeam mix-master.

Photographs of a functioning old "Early Kooka" brand stove, still working in a Randwick resident's kitchen, were incorporated into the display which was a trip down memory lane of how we used to cook and entertain.

The exhibition was opened by the then Mayor of Randwick, Cr Murray Matson, with over 100 people enjoying the event and many more seeing it over the coming months.

Curator: Georgina Keep, Local Studies Librarian, Randwick City Library
