The Randwick Literary Institute (RLI) is a popular multi-room community centre. The foundation stone was laid in 1913 and the building was completed in 1925. There are four halls available for hire, two of which are carpeted and two with wooden flooring. It is a busy venue hired by various organisations providing classes and workshops on dancing, art and craft, yoga, fitness and is home to the local playgroup within a secure garden area.

The RLI does NOT accept bookings for children’s or other parties. Please note: disability access to the RLI is currently limited to the garden area only. Toilets are currently not wheelchair accessible.

Hiring a hall in the Randwick Literary Institute

The Randwick Literary Institute is suitable for a range of activities including meetings, dance classes, art activities small low key performances like puppet shows, play readings and choral concerts.

Rooms can be booked on an ongoing or a one-off basis.

  • First, contact the Venue Team on (02) 9093 6214 to enquire if the hall is available on the date(s) you prefer. You will then be sent the Hall Hire Application form to complete and lodge as directed.
  • If your application is successful an email will be sent to you confirming your booking with details regarding payment via BPoint and collection of the security tag.
  • The Private/Commercial hall hire rate is applied if you are a group or organisation charging an entry fee or participation charge. This also relates to any booking that competes with local business.
  • The Non-Commercial rate is for not for profit groups and charities. Your Notice of Endorsement for Charity Tax Concessions from the Australian Taxation Office or a copy of the entity’s constitution including a not for profit clause must be attached to your application form.
  • A fully refundable security tag deposit of $50 is required for all bookings.
  • Regular hirers, corporations and organisations will require public liability insurance at a minimum in the sum of $20 million per claim. It must be in the name of the hirer and a copy must be provided to Council prior to confirmation of any booking.
