Mayor with Souths Cares

More than 250 local school students joined Mayor Danny Said and Rabbitohs players Liam Knight, Mark Nicholls and Dane Gagai for a footy clinic at Pioneers Park, Malabar last month, where they were taught new skills, thanks to Souths Cares and Randwick Council.

The students, from Malabar Public School and St Andrews Primary school, were taught a range of Rugby League skills and drills. The clinic was facilitated by Souths Cares players - many of whom played their junior football at Pioneers Park – with the support of SEDA College students

The Rabbitohs First Grade Squad were in attendance to share some tips with the students and were impressed with the high level of skill and athleticism displayed by the students.

“It was wonderful to see the powerful, positive impact that these players have on the younger generation,” stated Mayor Danny Said. “The smiles on the kids’ faces said it all – here they were sharing the same field as their heroes, learning from them and interacting with them. Rabbitohs players are role models for the kids of Randwick City and show them the benefits of getting outside, being active and leading healthy lifestyles. We’re really lucky that Souths Cares play such an active role in the community and thank them for their time.”
