Have you worked out by the beach lately? The new Malabar Beach outdoor gym, located just metres from the water, has been completed and is open for use.

With equipment that includes a cycle, elliptical trainer, leg press, chest press, pull up bar, roman rings, a sit up bench, step up station and more, there could be no more beautiful place to tone up or work up a sweat. The equipment installed at the new gym has been specifically chosen to suit people of all ages and fitness levels.

Local residents Richard Horton and Jason Lister, who are members of the Malabar Precinct, requested an outdoor gym to be installed here in 2019. Community consultation confirmed that this was a view supported by the wider community and that a location close to the water’s edge was preferred.

“Malabar Beach truly is a beautiful part of the world, visitors can’t believe how stunning it is when I bring them here,” states Randwick Mayor Danny Said. “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to provide this for the community. I know they’ll love it and the gym will get a lot of use, particularly because it has been designed so that no matter where you are on your fitness journey, you’ll get a great workout here.

“We’re particularly grateful for the assistance that both Richard and Jason were able to provide in bringing this idea to fruition and for being involved in the community consultation.”

The Malabar outdoor gym joins a list of other outdoor gym locations in Randwick City, including Coogee, Clovelly, Chifley, Frenchmans Bay, Kensington and Maroubra.
