Across the country, libraries have been keeping people of all ages entertained, educated and in touch with each other during the times when the COVID pandemic has kept us apart. While we may not currently have access to many of the physical resources in our three libraries, members still have access to e-books, audiobooks, film streaming services and magazines that can be read on tablets.

There are also great digital resources for kids and for students – especially those studying their HSC this year.

For kids

There are online classes and kids’ storybooks read by a diverse range of storytellers and resources for kids with an interest in STEM. Find out what else is available to keep your little ones occupied.

HSC students

ATAR Notes are running free HSC Trials Revision and Head Start Lectures until Friday 9 July. Join thousands of students and tune in to these free live-streamed events. Online study help is also being offered, connecting students with people who can help. In addition, EdUnlimited provides more 300 HSC study guides, including course summaries, study notes, topic tests and practice exams. Kanopy

Choose from more than 30,000 films and documentaries from Australia and around the world with this on-demand streaming video service. It features films from the Criterion Collection, Madman Entertainment and many more. Click here for access.

GALE - resources for learning and research

Gale offers online resources in education, learning and research. Their news, case studies, archives and databases cover a huge variety of topics - from health and wellness information to National Geographic adventures for kids and adults alike; study and homework help; global news; history and science facts; valuable resources for businesses and entrepreneurs; and great tips and databases for book-lovers!

Libby

Libby, by OverDrive, provides access to thousands of eAudiobooks, eBooks and eMagazines. Once a title is borrowed it will be accessible for up to three weeks. You can also borrow titles using the mobile app Libby on your Apple, or Android device. For users wanting to transfer to their eReader, you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions.

indyreads

indyreads provides access to a statewide collection of independent Australian and international titles, classic literature and modern award-winning titles in eBook and eAudio format. You may also find self-published authors, local writers and Local History Library materials. All you need is your library card number and PIN/password to borrow, download and start reading; anywhere, anytime.
