Public comments on a Development Application (DA) submitted by the Coogee Bay Hotel have been extended until Friday 10 September 2021 to allow more time for residents to provide their feedback.

The DA applies to the Coogee Bay Hotel site and surrounding properties at 212 Arden Street, 227-233 Coogee Bay Road and 5-7 as well as 15A Vicar Street, Coogee and seeks to build a six-storey apartment building as well mixed use commercial and retail space on the site.

The proposal for the $111 million development also seeks variations to maximum building heights from the current 12m limit to 23m.

The application proposes to demolish the existing Selina’s nightclub, a boutique hotel, an apartment building on Vicar Street, and shops along Coogee Bay Road. The heritage-listed Coogee Bay Road Hotel and beer garden would be retained.

A detailed assessment of the application by Randwick Council planning staff is currently underway. All community feedback will be included in this assessment. The application will be determined by the Sydney Eastern Planning Panel.

The full details of the application including the architectural plans and other relevant documents as well as how to make a submission, can be found on Council’s website.
