FOGO new bins

NOTE: This news article was accurate at the time it was posted. Visit FOGO to see the latest information.

As part of the new Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) service, all residents will receive a new green lid FOGO bin and kitchen caddy to collect their food scraps. These will arrive at the end of February, just before the FOGO service starts in March 2021.

As well as these new bins for the FOGO service, residents will also receive new red and yellow lid bins. The new bins will have updated illustrations on the lids, letting you know what can go in each bin.

We’ll start delivering new red and yellow lid bins from Monday 4 January 2021.

From Monday 15 February 2021, we will deliver your new green lid FOGO bin.

When you receive your new bins, don’t start using them straight away. Use your old bin until your next usual bin day, when they will be emptied as usual. Please leave your old bins on the kerb and they will be taken away by a separate truck and recycled to make new bins.

Once your old bins have been taken you can start to use your new bins. Please don’t keep any old bins as these will no longer be emptied.

You can start to use your FOGO bin in March, when this new service starts. Don’t worry, we’ll include a welcome pack with your new bins, so you have all the information and dates you need to sail through this process.

If you’re going to be away the week of the bin swap, please ask a friend or neighbour to bring your new bins in and take your old bins out. If you see someone hasn’t brought their bins in, please put it somewhere safe on their property. We will do additional pick ups of old bins if you missed the first time, but please try your hardest to arrange for someone to help during your street’s designated week.
