Randwick City Council staff have this afternoon Thursday 12 September 2019 closed Frenchmans Bay Beach at La Perouse due to a sewage overflow.

Council staff have been on site this afternoon trying to identify the source of the leak. Council is working with local business owners, Sydney Water and NBN contractors to repair the leak as soon as possible.

Frenchmans Bay Beach has been closed as a precaution until further notice. It is expected the beach will remain closed on Friday 13 September.

UPDATE 13 September 2019 5:19pm: The cause of the sewage overflow has now been identified and repaired. Crews are onsite cleaning the street and stormwater drains. Lifeguards plan to reopen the beach for swimming on Saturday morning.
