There's always a lot to do in Randwick City, but this October there are a few events that we really want to highlight. We hope you'll mark them in your calendar and come along and be part of what's on. Here's what you need to know:

The wonderful world of whales and dolphins - Wednesday 9 October
This school holidays we've organised a special event for lovers of the ocean. Suitable for ages 7 and up, we'll explore the wonderful world of Cetacea - the warm blooded, air-breathing mammals that live in our oceans and give birth to live young. Marine biologist, Georgina Wood will host the event and we'll hear all about these animals and their special songs. Plus, there will be prizes for correct guesses! Just $5 per person.

Bali Commemoration Ceremony Coogee - Saturday 12 October
Each year on 12 October friends and family and the local communtiy come together to rememer those who were lost in 2002 Bali Bombings. It's a time of remembrance and a time to celebreate the lives that were lost and the resilience of those left behind and our community. Everyone is welcome to attend. The program includes speeches, songs, flower laying and morning tea. The ceremony is outdoors in Dunningham Reserve at 9.30 - 11am.

Cultural Bridges - Saturday 12 October
Join us for a fun day at Kensington Park Community Centre. We'll be celebrating culture and diversity with live music performances, kids activities, multicultural food, giveaways and lots more! This free event will also be a chance to learn about our local community services.

Malabar Family Day - Sunday 13 October
Join us in Malabar on Sunday 13 October to celebrate the lives of Malabar locals who were lost in the 2002 Bali Bombings. We'll be remembering with a flag raising ceremony, BBQ, concert and entertainment. Everyone is welcome to join in. Bring a picnic and take part in the community gathering.

Garage Sale Trail Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 October
Pick up a bargain this weekend at the various garage sales that will be taking place as part of the Garage Sale Trail. You can register to be part of it or just enjoy the sales! Find something unique while helping to declutter and keep things out of landfill.

Grandparents Fun Day - Sunday 20 October
Join us at this local community event held for Grandparents and their family members. Step back in time and take a look at a bygone era! Chat to your grandparents about how life was when they were a child. Browse the museum, which includes a working iron lung, historical surgical instruments and heritage photographs. There will be live music, face painting, activities, sausage sizzle, psychic readings, wool workshops, morse code demonstrations and cultural Aboriginal workshops.

Maroubra Fun Run & Oktoberfest - Sunday 27 October
This year, we're supporting the Maroubra Fun Run & Octoberfest. Join in the fitness fun and take part in any one of the running events as a runner, jogger or walker or wheeler! There will be a 4km and 8km event. Stay on after the event and take part in the Oktoberfest activities! There will be lots of fun and activities organised as part of the day.
