Randwick Council will be a smart city leader, leveraging new technology to drive growth innovation, sustainability and liveability, Mayor Lindsay Shurey announced today.

“Randwick City Council will work with the community to develop a dedicated Smart City Strategy,” said Mayor Shurey.  “Smart city technology is a game-changer. Wireless networks, the Internet of Things, big data, real time information, mobile applications, and smart services are helping to make cities better right around the globe. Randwick Council will ride this wave of change and make the most of these emerging opportunities.

“Randwick is already on the front foot, actively engaged with the digital revolution.  Council has just released a 10-year Digital Strategy, we have on ongoing program of online service enhancement and we have a history of successfully implementing innovative solutions to transform our work practices and service delivery.

“This new Smart City Strategy will ensure our city is connected, competitive and creative.  Above all, this will be a Strategy for the community, focusing on how technology can improve living and opportunity in Randwick. I encourage everyone in the community to have their say, and help shape this Strategy,” said Mayor Shurey.

Community consultation is open from Wednesday 28 March 2018 until Monday 23 April 2018 and the community is being asked to share their priorities for smart city innovation via a survey and through two workshops.  The community consultation will inform the development of the Randwick Council’s draft Smart City Strategy, expected to be exhibited later in 2018.
