Randwick City Council’s highly regarded General Manager Ray Brownlee PSM is leaving Randwick Council to take up a role at another council, Randwick Mayor Lindsay Shurey announced today.

Mr Brownlee PSM is regarded as one of the state’s best local government chief executive officers and has helped shape Randwick Council into an efficient, top performing and community-focused council.

“Ray has been a rock for this council since he started in 2004,” Mayor Shurey said. “He has brought a disciplined approach to our financial management, planning and service delivery.

“Ray is passionate about innovation and technology and has used both to deliver efficiencies and best value for our residents and ratepayers.

“Ray is highly regarded by his colleagues and staff and has formed strong ties with practically every organisation, association and community group within Randwick City.”

His achievements and contribution to public service were acknowledged in 2015 by receiving the Public Service Medal (PSM) on Australia Day.

“On behalf of Randwick Council, Randwick Councillors and the Randwick City community, I would like to thank Ray for his enormous contribution over the past 14 years,

“Randwick Council is in the strong position it is today due very much to Ray’s ongoing leadership and direction.

“He leaves to take on a new opportunity at the recently merged Northern Beaches Council and we wish him all the best,” Mayor Shurey said.

Ray will take up his new role of Chief Executive Officer at Northern Beaches Council in October 2018.
