Families are invited to enjoy a day of free activities, including live music, cultural tours, a snake show and lawn games, before welcoming the Queen’s Baton Relay to La Perouse on Sunday 4 February 2018 from 10am until 6pm.

Australian Idol and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here winner Casey Donovan will perform a free concert, starting at 4.30pm, prior to the arrival of Queen’s Baton Relay.

The day of family fun also includes access to the iconic Blak Markets at Bare Island from 9.30am and tours of the La Perouse Museum, including Morse code demonstrations, from 10am to 3pm. Afternoon activities include colonial lawn games from 1pm, the La Perouse Snake Show from 1.30pm and Aboriginal dance and performances from 2.30pm.

“I’m so keen for people to come to La Perouse for the day and experience all that is has to offer,” said Deputy Mayor Alexandra Luxford. “Aside from all the wonderful, free activities that we’ll put on for the community, it’s a place worth taking the time to explore and enjoy. The area is rich in indigenous and colonial history and offers so many opportunities to experience the natural beauty of our coast and national park.

“The day will be a fantastic event that is all about celebrating the community, enjoying each other’s company and welcoming the Queen’s Baton Relay. I encourage everyone to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy quality time together.”

Roads leading into La Perouse from Little Bay along ANZAC Parade and Bunnerong Road will be under police control between 5pm and 5.30pm, due to the baton relay. Guests are advised to arrive at the site prior to 3.30pm. Parking will be limited.
