Randwick Council backs marriage equality.

Randwick City Council is throwing its support behind marriage equality by formally backing the yes vote and flying rainbow banners on Randwick Town Hall, Randwick Mayor Lindsay Shurey announced today.

Council resolved to support the yes vote at its meeting on 24 October 2017 and to communicate its support to the community.

"This is a vote for equality," Mayor Shurey said.

"I'm proud our Council is formally putting its support behind marriage equality and backing our LGBTI community.

"We've always stood up for what we believe in and we've always supported our community. The marriage equality postal survey is a critical issue for our community and for equal rights.

"I encourage everyone in the community to carefully consider the matter and submit their survey response," Mayor Shurey said.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is asking people to mail their survey response back by Friday 27 October 2017 to make sure it counts. The survey officially closes on Tuesday 7 November 2017 and if your survey is not received by this time it will not be counted.
