Stage one works to upgrade Randwick Town Hall are underway, with the makeover to include new interior finishes, reroofing of the Main Hall and Frances Street wing as well as a lift to meet accessibility standards.

A key civic building in Randwick City since 1882, heritage-listed Randwick Town Hall hosts important functions for the Council but also serves as an important venue for the community as home to citizenship ceremonies, theatre events, election polls, fundraising activities and fairs.

Mayor of Randwick, Noel D’Souza, is glad the works are underway, with the Randwick Town Hall upgrade an important part of Council’s capital works program.

“Randwick Town Hall is an important civic space for our community but it is in need of major updates to make it safe and accessible for the public.

“These works will revive this much-loved community icon and the much-needed upgrades will ensure Randwick Town Hall continues to stand proudly in our community for the next century,” said Mayor D’Souza.

Works will be staged as funding becomes available. Initial works to repair, re-roof and install a lift are funded as part of the 2016-17 Randwick City Council capital works budget and should be complete mid-2017.
