In celebration of International Women’s Day, Randwick City Council is calling for entries for the 2017 International Women’s Day Art Prize.

The women’s only competition encourages the women who work, live or study in Randwick City to showcase their creative talents, recognising the important contribution women make to families, workplaces and communities.

Cr Lindsay Shurey believes Council’s International Women’s Day Art Prize provides a unique platform for local women to celebrate their creative side.

“Art is an important way to express ourselves and the International Women’s Day Art Prize allows us to reflect on the important role of women in our community and recognise their achievements and creativity,” said Cr Shurey.

Cr Kathy Neilson encouraged local women – young and old - to submit their art and showcase their talents. School girls from 12 years are eligible to enter.

“This is a great opportunity to celebrate our local artists and to have your work on display for Randwick City to admire,” said Cr Neilson.

The Awards Ceremony will be held on 4 March at the Randwick Community Centre between 10am and 1pm.  The finalists will be exhibited between 4 March and 19 April at the Randwick Community Centre and Lionel Bowen Library.

To enter, submit your artwork to the Randwick Community Centre by Monday, 27 February between 2pm to 5pm.
