Pandas at Borrodale Road

The arrival of two lifelike pandas at Borrodale Road in Kingsford is the final installation for the ArtMoves program, entitled ‘Surprise Dumplings’.

“Together all the installations have really given a sense of pride to the community and reflect the culture of the Kensington and Kingsford area," Marg Prendergast, Coordinator General for Transport for NSW said.

“Overall we’ve had strong positive feedback for the entire project with the local community excited to see the works, particularly the heritage posts on the corner of Anzac Parade and Addison Street and the colourfulness of “The Playground” at Strachan Street.”

With the completion of Borrodale Road the local community and visitors can now walk up and down Anzac Parade and not only experience the installations but explore the culture, the people and the local businesses that make up this great and diverse area.

“Art is an excellent way to beautify a shared space and stimulate discussion within a community,” said Randwick Mayor Lindsay Shurey.

“I firmly believe that projects like ArtMoves make a vital contribution to a community’s sense of wellbeing, particularly when it explores the area’s own history and culture. I hope that people enjoy these vibrant spaces and feel a sense of pride in where they live.”
The ArtMoves installations can be found at Southern Cross Close, Borrowdale Road, Strachan Street, Addison Street and Duke Street in Kingsford and Kensington.
