Council, Mayor's Messages

Last week Randwick Council lodged a formal submission in response to the NSW Government’s proposed merger of Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra Councils.

Council’s submission addresses each factor the Delegate must consider under the Local Government Act and also proposes a new name – Eastern Sydney Council.

Given that standing alone was not an option, the merger of Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra is a positive outcome for our region, preserving our way of life and delivering $235M in extra services over 10 years.

Council is also recommending that the Government implement a five-ward structure, increase Councillor representation over the transition period and remove existing disruptive boundaries in the Port Botany area, bringing key port infrastructure assets under the new Eastern Sydney Council.
