Randwick City Council is asking people to share their ideas for the future of Kensington Park and Oval as part of a community consultation program to develop a plan for the park for the next decade.

A much-loved sports ground and an important place for local residents and families, the aim of the consultation is to gather ideas on how the park could be improved to address the recreation needs of the growing and changing population as well as better ways to link the park with the surrounding neighbourhood.

Mayor of Randwick, Noel D’Souza, outlined the importance of garnering the public’s feedback for improvements to public spaces.

“Kensington Park and Oval is an important place in the community given its proximity to UNSW, Kingsford Town Centre and future light rail stops, so we want to ensure that the improvements we make to public facilities reflect the needs of the community.

“There are several ways people can submit their feedback online through a short five minute survey, by sharing their ideas for new features for the park or even just their stories about how they use the park currently,” said Mayor D’Souza.

Council staff will carefully consider all feedback received to help develop a Plan of Management for the park which will then be publicly exhibited for community comment.

The Stage 1 consultation closes on 1 July 2016.  To submit your ideas for Kensington Park and Oval, visit www.yoursay.randwick.nsw.gov.au/kensingtonpark
