On Sunday 31 July 2016 Randwick City Council is hosting a plant giveaway at its Community Nursery, 2B Barker St, Kingsford, with the primary aim of encouraging participants to increase the City's urban forest and habitat provision for a variety of native bird life and other fauna.

The event also allows Council staff the opportunity to inform and educate the public on the many benefits of trees and their increasing importance in the urban environment.

Planting packs containing tube stock, gloves and trowels will be provided to participants free of charge and anyone wanting additional larger plant stock will be able to purchase them from nursery staff who will be assisting on the day.

This is part of Council’s ongoing involvement in National Tree Day and its support for this very worthwhile community event.

The event runs from 9:00am-12:00pm, so grab the kids and get involved. Remember to wear a sun hat and sunscreen - particularly children. Please bring drinking water to avoid dehydration.
