Beach Breaks Carnival

Winter may be upon us but Maroubra Beach will be hot with activity for the annual Beach Breaks Carnival taking place on Sunday 24 July.

The ultimate celebration of surfing culture right here on the ‘sports coast’, the Beach Breaks Carnival is the perfect day out for the family with lots of fun, entertainment and music to enjoy.

Mayor of Randwick, Noel D’Souza, believes the growth of the Beach Breaks Carnival each year highlights the community’s love of surfing and Maroubra Beach.

“Maroubra Beach has been home to surfers for decades and the Beach Breaks Carnival is a fantastic way for people to come and enjoy this magnificent beach right here in Randwick City,” said Mayor D’Souza.

Starting with the Surfing NSW Grommets Title in the morning, new inductees to the Australian Surfing Walk of Fame will be unveiled from 1pm.  The Australian Surfing Walk of Fame pays tribute to the outstanding achievements of Australia’s leading surfers and surf life savers, including previous honourees, local Maroubra legends Barry Rodgers and Steve ‘Blackie’ Wilson.

This year’s inductees include:

From experienced surfers to those keen to get on a board for the first time, the Beach Breaks Carnival has something for everyone.  There will be free surfing lessons, free surfboard and skateboard airbrushing as well as jumping castles, dodgem cars and a trackless train.

If you prefer to stay on dry land and leave the surfing to the experts, there will also be market stalls for lots of arts and crafts, mouth-watering food stalls, a DJ, tarot readers and free face painting.

The Beach Breaks Carnival is proudly hosted by Randwick City Council and is a free event for the community.
