The skies above Coogee Beach will snap, crackle and pop on New Year’s Eve, Saturday 31 December 2016, with the popular Coogee Sparkles launching off Dunningham Reserve (near the Bali Memorial) from 9pm.
Residents and visitors alike will swarm to Coogee Beach early on New Year’s Eve to snag the best spot to see the fireworks light up the Randwick City skyline.
Mayor of Randwick, Noel D’Souza, says the fireworks are always a wonderful way to ring in the new year with family and friends.
“Coogee Sparkles are our pinnacle event of the year, reminding us of the year that was and the year to come.
“I’m personally looking forward to spending the evening with the community as we come together to celebrate the start of 2017,” said Mayor D’Souza.
The best viewing areas are:
- Goldstein Reserve, Coogee: located right next to the beach – please note, space is limited this year due to the construction of the Coogee Toilets
- Grant Reserve & Trenerry Reserve: located further south but there are good viewing areas close to the coast
- Clovelly Beach car park: good view of the fireworks from the north
- Burrows Park headland: good view of the fireworks from the northLocal restaurants and hotels: many local establishments host excellent New Year’s Eve events within sight of the fireworks
