Beaches & Lifeguards, Council, Mayor's Messages

This week marks the anniversary of the Bali bombings in 2002 where 20 of our brothers and sisters in the eastern suburbs community lost their lives 13 years ago. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who we lost, and the survivors themselves.

I would like to congratulate Randwick Council staff member, Peter Halcro for his amazing 30 years of service as a Council Lifeguard.

Peter, a local man himself, is one of our most senior lifeguards and has been awarded the highest honour for his bravery. Well done Peter, you have done us proud and here’s to many more years of service.

Now in my second week as Mayor, I have been out and about meeting friends and colleagues of the Council including the Small Business Commissioner, Robyn Hobbs, the Maroubra Salvation Army, fellow business leaders and local community members.

It’s been a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to meeting many more locals as I continue on my journey as Mayor.
