Randwick City Council last week (Tuesday 24 March 2015) resolved to consult further with local businesses to develop a strategy to help businesses through the construction phase of the State Government's CBD and South East light rail project.

The strategy complements the Council's light rail support plan endorsed last year which proposes building a multi-storey car park in Kingsford, clawing back street parking removed because of the light rail, upgrading drainage, creating new urban plazas and developing better cycleway connections.

We know that the light rail project offers an improved transport solution for the future. However, we acknowledge the construction period may cause disruption to trade and retail services, particularly along the Anzac Parade corridor.

Council staff are now working on a report back to Council with further information and recommendations on the feasibility of the resolution.
