The newly revamped Coogee Pavilion has taken out the top honours as 2015 Business of the Year in the Randwick City Business Excellence Awards announced tonight at a gala dinner at Souths Juniors Leagues Club.

The latest venture of Justin Hemmes, The Coogee Pavilion, has been a huge success since opening in 2014 after an internal renovation and re-imagining. The Pavilion also took out the Best New Business category.

There were 186 finalists in 27 categories recognising the best of the best businesses across Randwick City as voted by customers and professional judges. The newest category, Best Coffee Award, was won by 22 Grams in Randwick.

Randwick Mayor Ted Seng said

“The number of finalists recognised tonight only confirms in my mind the high quality of local businesses in our City,” Mayor Seng said. “We are lucky to have so many excellent businesses which employ thousands of workers and directly contribute to our strong eastern beaches identity. Congratulations to all the winners.”

Mayor Seng presented two special awards on the night for Outstanding Contribution to the Randwick City Business Community to recently retired Randwick pharmacist Richard Ho and to the late John Engelman from the Kingsford Furnishing Centre which he opened in 1954.
