Mayor's Messages

Randwick City Councillors will tonight elect a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor as my second term as Mayor comes to an end today.

It has been an honour to serve as the leader of this great City. I am extremely proud of this Council and its many achievements.

I would like to thank my fellow Councillors, General Manager Ray Brownlee, the entire staff and the wider community for your ongoing support during my time as Mayor.

Randwick City Council is widely recognised as a leading local government organisation, and with a balanced annual budget of $158 million (2014/15), it is financially strong, sustainable and debt-free.

Having served as Mayor for two years and as a Councillor for ten years, I understand the important contribution that local government makes to local communities. I believe it is critical that we strengthen and enhance local government so that it continues to be an effective provider of local services and adequately represents the interests of the community.

This Council has a strong sense of community and we've achieved a lot together over the past year.  I know that we, as Council and as a community, will continue to have a bright, prosperous future.

Lastly, I would like to say congratulations to the South Sydney Rabbitohs for reaching the NRL Grand Final. You certainly have the Randwick City community behind you. Good luck for Sunday!

Go Rabbitohs!
