Randwick City Council - Mayor's message - 22 July 2014

At tonight's Council meeting, Randwick City Councillors will be considering the future of the old Kensington Bowling Club site, in Kensington Park. This follows extensive community consultation held earlier this year in which we saw more than 700 residents participate in online surveys, forums, workshops, submissions and petitions.

Since the club's closure in February 2013, Randwick City Council has been reviewing options for the future of the club as a community centre. The report being considered by Councillors tonight suggests proceeding with a community centre which will include two rooms for hire, parking, an outdoor gym and a half basketball court.

We are committed to getting the mix right. There are a broad range of potential options for the site and it is essential that we ensure it offers real value to the community. This unique location offers a fantastic array of spaces and we hope to optimise these in the best way we can.

A copy of tonight's report is available on Council's website, and we will ensure we keep the community informed about any decisions that are made.
