Loop Road and Bunnerong Road, La Perouse
Randwick City Council is investing more than $8M to improve the La Perouse precinct for local residents, businesses and visitors. The works will make the area safer for pedestrians and bike riders, reduce traffic congestion, upgrade roads and preserve and retain the area's important heritage sites.
The upgrade will see the creation of a coastal walkway around The Loop which will eventually link with the Sydney Coastal Walkway which currently starts at Bondi and ends at Maroubra Beach.

Background
La Perouse is recognised as a heritage precinct of international, indigenous and national significance. With its open landscape, panoramic views, heritage buildings and access to beaches, the area is a magnet for day trippers wanting to bushwalk, swim, dive, fish and enjoy the spectacular views.
When Council consulted the local community about the project in early 2009 the community feedback was extremely positive about the proposals and that local traffic safety, visitor parking and seating was important.
We've listened to this feedback by adding more seats, designing an extra roundabout to stop right hand turns into Endeavour Avenue, and reorganising the visitor parking in the Loop.
Any major upgrade inevitably has some unavoidable disruption to local residents and businesses. Work has been deliberately scheduled for the winter season to limit disruptions and Council's contractors will limit any noise and traffic disruptions as much as possible.
