Buildings for our Community is a seven year program to renovate our existing buildings and to build new facilities for Randwick City. These improved and additional facilities will benefit our community and our visitors by providing buildings in line with current standards and expectations, ensuring their use well into the future.
The program is funded through a three year Section 508A Special Variation to General Revenue, approved in 2010 by the Minister for Local Government after an extensive community consultation process. The Special Variation involved a 2.71% rate increase for three years, with the accumulated increase remaining in the rates thereafter.
We are committed to keeping the community involved in the program, including ongoing engagement during its implementation and consultation on each of the major projects. The 2013-2014 year is the fourth year of the Buildings for our Community levy and program.
