Noticed anything different along Bunnerong Road lately?

Council has just completed the first stage of a rejuvenation of Matraville Town Centre on Bunnerong Road between Beauchamp Road and Harold Street, and on Perry Street between Bunnerong Road and Baird Avenue.

As part of the $150,000 spruce up of the area, more than 5000 specially selected native shrubs have also been planted, new coloured concrete median strips have been constructed, and twelve shiny new banner poles have been installed.

Randwick Mayor Councillor Scott Nash said the area was looking great and reflected the vibrant community of the area.

“Our town centres are important social and economic hubs in our community. Matraville has a fascinating heritage, and a unique character within our City, and it’s important that we celebrate that, and ensure that residents and visitors appreciate what this area has to offer.

“Later this year the new banner poles will fly special festive street banners that pay tribute to Matraville,” he said.
