People can nominate their favourite garden in Randwick City, with nine categories to choose from including:

  • Best residential garden (flat, townhouse or villa)
  • Best native garden

  • Best community garden
  • Best professionally maintained garden
  • Best kept nature strip

Randwick Mayor Councillor Scott Nash said the Garden Awards are one of the Council’s most popular and hotly contested award programs, with nominations increasing each year.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people nurturing their gardens – and as well as making our City more beautiful, gardens are also great for growing food and attracting native fauna, particularly birds.”

This year, local businesses have come on board to support the awards, with sponsors including Secret Gardens of Sydney, Kennards Hire, Bendigo Bank Clovelly, Tumbleweed, Amber Tiles Eastern Suburbs, Green Solar Group, Bunnings Warehouse Randwick, Andreasens Green and Andrews Lawnmowers.

Nominations for the Garden Awards close at 5pm on Friday 31 August 2012 and the entry form can be obtained from the Randwick Council's website , Administration Building and libraries. Judging will take place in early September and the highly anticipated awards presentation will be held on Sunday 16 September at the Randwick Ecoliving Fair.
