Community consultations
The community consultation on how the program should be funded was undertaken in the first half of 2010 and has now closed. These pages show how the community was consulted. The following information on this and related pages was last updated in April 2010.
Randwick City Council thanks everyone gave their feedback and comments during this extensive community consultation. The Council is now in the process of compiling all the feedback from:
-
focus groups
-
the deliberative engagement workshop
-
Council run street stall at Pacific Square
-
online discussions on the Bang the Table website
-
surveys on the Council website and letterbox dropped to all Randwick City residents
-
comments and submissions from Precinct Committees, Chambers of Commerce, the Sports Committee, seniors groups, child care groups, the Access Advisory committee and the Aboriginal Land Council.
-
comments and submissions by individuals
Once all the information has been analysed, a report will be prepared detailing the outcome of the community consultation and this will considered by Randwick City Councillors at an extraordinary Council meeting on Tuesday 13 April 2010.
If the Council decides to submit an application to the Department of Local Government, for a rate increase, the application will reflect the feedback from the community.
There will be another opportunity for public feedback when the draft Management Plan 2010-13 is placed on public exhibition during May 2010. In addition, each individual project will be subject to detailed design and consultation before to its implementation.
As this community consultation has now closed, the following information on this page may no longer be current.
The City of Randwick has a rich social heritage, beautiful physical environment and extensive recreational, cultural, educational, sporting and medical facilities. This is why many of you have chosen to live in the area.
Over the past five years, you have told Randwick City Council through community surveys and submissions that your priorities are maintaining roads and footpaths, cleaning beaches and parks, and community health and safety. Over that time, we have targeted our resources on those priorities and worked hard to meet your expectations.
We need better buildings for our community
Now we need to invest in the long term sustainability and improve the standard of our community buildings and we want to provide the additional community facilities which you have asked for.
To do this we have put together a $34.8 million seven year Buildings for our Community program to renovate or build new community facilities and amenities.
There are 65 proposed projects in the full Buildings for our Community program. These include renovating community centres, amenities blocks and buildings with concrete cancer as well as some new buildings.
