Description
Coral Sea Park is located in a quiet residential area just five minutes from the cafes and beach at Maroubra. It is a major sporting facility that supports many rugby and soccer fields, a cricket pitch and practice nets. These areas are floodlit for night training and night matches.
The park was created in 1947 on the site of the old Maroubra Speedway. The park was named after the battle of the Coral Sea in 1942 and the surrounding streets were named after the allied warships that participated in that battle.
The perimeter of the park is covered with large established trees that provide a pleasant environment for the spectators and passive users of the park.
Coral Sea Park is an approved dog exercise area. A fenced playground is under construction and should be completed by the end of 2003.
