Coogee Beach

Coogee Beach has a contemporary promenade, beachfront terraces and a wide sandy beach with hotels, cafes, restaurants and beautiful parklands nearby. Coogee Beach has grown from a destination for day trippers in the early 1800s to one of Sydney's most frequented beaches. Its ocean rock pools  also have a long and interesting history and remain a popular attraction today.

A beach inspector/lifeguard patrols the beach in summer and winter:

Time of the year Patrol time

Summer (daylight saving)

7 am to 7 pm
Summer (non-daylight saving)

7 am to 5 pm

Winter (late April - late September)

7 am to 5 pm

The public open space adjacent to the beach has been developed to link Dunningham Reserve at the northern end of the beach to Grant Reserve and Trennery Reserve at the southern end of the beach. These linked areas of open space also provide excellent and varied recreational facilities and spectacular ocean views, and are part of the Eastern Beaches Coastal Walk.

The Coogee Beach Plan of Management details the existing environment, the history, heritage and recreational uses of the area, and outlines the management strategies and priorities for the beach. Copies of the Plan of Management are available for purchase at a cost of $20. Contact us.
