Exempt and Complying Development

Contains a list of developments and standards/conditions for Exempt & Complying Development.

State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008 (the Codes SEPP) specifies exempt development under that Policy. The Codes SEPP has state-wide application and commenced on 27 February 2009. Consequently, the exempt development provisions (for the development types covered by the Codes SEPP) in Council's DCP for Exempt Development will no longer apply.

For complying development, transitional arrangements apply for Council's existing complying development provisions to continue unaffected by the operation of the Codes SEPP. This means that applicants can, until 1 September 2012, choose to carry out complying development under the Codes SEPP or Council's existing complying development provisions.

A copy of the Codes SEPP and further information on the General Housing Code is available at: www.planning.nsw.gov.au/housingcode

An annotated version of Council's Exempt and Complying Development DCP (pdf 841kb) provides a guide to changes to the DCP from various State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs). This is not a legal document.
