Outdoor dining and display of goods

Licence agreements

As part of its responsibilities in promoting and enhancing local business, Council approval must be obtained for the use of the Road Reserve for:

  • outdoor dining purposes, and
  • display of goods.

This assists Council and other authorities in responding to potential health and safety issues and incidents.

In all cases you will need to submit a Development Application and upon approval complete an Outdoor Dining Display of Goods Application form
(pdf 260kb) to enter into a Outdoor Dining Display of Goods Licence Agreement.

Licence requirements

The licensee is required to only occupy the approved area under the Development Consent, pay for the use of the footpath in line with Council's Statement of Fees and Charges Pricing Policy and must hold a current Public Liability Insurance Policy noting Randwick City Council as an interested party.

Fees and charges must be paid in advance or as invoiced.

Where licensees fail to comply, Council can:

  • issue on-the-spot fines, and
  • cancel licence agreements.

Council inspections

Council Officers can inspect outdoor dining areas to check compliance. If you require any further information regarding outdoor dining display of goods please contact Council's Property Section on 1300 722 542.
