Exhibition of Environmental Assessment

Major Project: Redevelopment of the Spectator Precinct and the Stables Precinct at the Royal Randwick Racecourse, Randwick

Description of proposal:

  • Project Application - Spectator Precinct (MP10_0097) including demolition of the Randwick Pavilion, Teahouse and Paddock Stand, excavation and site works and construction of a new 7 level above ground level grandstand with basement, amphitheatre parade ring, 3 storey Owners and Trainers pavilion, single storey amenities block, together with the refurbishment of the QE11 Stand, modification of the junction of the Official Stand to the QE11 Stand, adaptive-reuse of the Swab building and on-site landscape works.
  • Project Application - Stables Precinct (MP10_0098) including demolition of the existing Stripping Stalls, Sand Rolls, Farrier's Workshop, Administration Hut and Stewards' Office, excavation and site works and construction of 6 x 2-storey stable buildings with ancillary facilities accommodating a total of 600 horses, 12 x 2-storey mechanical horse walkers, tie-up stalls, pony enclosure, open exercising facilities, accommodation rooms for staff, carparking, relocation of the vehicular entrance on Wansey Road and on-site landscape works.

Exhibition

The Environmental Assessment will be on exhibition from Wednesday 13 October 2010 until Friday 12 November 2010 during regular business hours, at:

  • Department of Planning, Information Centre, 23-33 Bridge Street, Sydney;
  • Randwick City Council, Customer Service Centre, 30 Frances Street, Randwick

A copy of the Director-General's Environmental Assessment Requirements and the EA's prepared by the Proponent may also be viewed on the Department of Planning's website.

The Director General has delegated his exhibition and assessment functions under Section 23(1)(d) of the Act for these projects to the Randwick City Council.

Submissions

You are invited to make a written submission on this proposal. This
submission should include:

  • your name and address
  • the application reference number
  • the name and address of the proposal
  • a statement on whether you support or object to the proposal
  • the reasons why you support or object to the proposal.
