Recycling unwanted materials is everyone's responsibility. It preserves scarce resources and reduces waste going to landfill.

Your recycling bin is a 240 litre bin with a yellow lid.

The recycling bin is collected every second week, on the alternative week to the green waste bins. Bins should be put out on the kerbside by 5:30 am on scheduled collection days. Materials left outside the bin will not be collected. To avoid spillage, do not overfill your bin.

You can help the drivers to pick up, empty and replace your bins safely and easily by:

  • putting your bins out on the kerb the night before or by 5:30am on your scheduled collection day.
  • making sure bin handles are facing your property.
  • leaving a space of at least 1 metre between your bin and any obstructions, like trees, cars or poles.
  • leaving a space of at least 30 centimetres between your bins so they can be lifted.
  • not overfilling your bins and ensuring the lid is shut.
