Sustainable energy
Randwick Council conducted an extensive residential energy conservation campaign from September 2006 to December 2007. This campaign, Randwick's Home Energy Makeover*, was designed to help householders combat climate change through a series of separate incentives and activities. This contributed to savings of more than $800,000 from household energy bills, and reductions of more than 4,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

Since the completion of Randwick's Home Energy Makeover, Federal and State government rebates have become available for energy saving measures around the home. To find out more on these rebates check out the Federal and State websites.

As a result of the success of Randwick's Home Energy Makeover, the home energy audits are being taken up by neighbouring Waverley and Woollahra Councils as part of the 3-Council Ecological Footprint project.

Rebates

In addition, new rebates are currently available for Randwick residents to install rainwater tanks, greywater systems, energy-efficient down lights, ceiling insulation and solar hot water systems. This program is possible through Council's Sustainable Home Makeover program.
