Sustainable Home Makeover rebates (ended June 30, 2009)
Randwick City Council's innovative householder rebate program concluded on June 30, 2009. The program was a huge success with over 465 rebates provided to residents over 8 months.
Close to 60 per cent of rebates were provided for replacing electric hot water systems for solar hot water or heat pumps, helping to reduce household's energy consumption by up to 30 per cent per household.
Rainwater tanks were also popular, with 141 residents installing up to 94,000 litres of water storage in the City, helping to reduce pressure on Sydney's fresh drinking water supply and saving water washing down our drains.
Ceiling insulation was provided to 39 households and energy saving down light rebates were taken up by 21 households.
