'Greening our City' takes many forms. Council is committed to maintaining and building on our wonderful environmental assets through its Tree Preservation Order, the Significant tree register and Street tree masterplan.

We have a magnificent nursery that specialises in plants indigenous to this area, as well as carrying other Australian and non-Australian species. A systematic weed control program helps us to stop the spread of weeds, allowing a diversity of local plants to flourish.

We welcome the contribution that residents make to greening our city, through volunteer programs at the nursery, in bush regeneration and community gardening schemes. Our garden awards recognise the work of individual residents in their own spaces.

Residents can also contribute in a very practical way to the ongoing care and maintenance of newly planted street trees by participating in Council's Adopt a Street Tree program (pdf 2.3 Mb)
