Traineeship and Apprenticeships
A great way to combine training and employment is through a traineeship or apprenticeship and it can result in participants receiving a nationally recognised qualification. They provide an opportunity to undertake paid work and structured training such as on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both.
University internships and industrial placement
We partner with a number of universities to provide university internships and industrial placement for undergraduates. Successful placements in the past have included undergraduates from civil engineering, town planning/development assessment and landscape design. Completing your industrial placement with us means that you will be mentored by leading industry specialists and have an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of projects associated with local government.
School work experience
To ensure school students get the most out of their work experience at Council we need to ensure that we can dedicate the necessary time to their learning. This means that we have to look at the operational needs and the work levels of the area in which they want to gain experience to see if there is an opportunity available.
Requests for work experience should be made in writing to careers@randwick.nsw.gov.au and include the following:
- Your resume with your contact details
- Your area/areas of interest
- The specific dates for the work experience
- The name and contact details of your school/college
- Proof of Public Liability and workers compensation coverage.
Written proof of Public Liability cover must be produced before your request can be considered. If you are required to complete work experience as part of your course of study or schooling, your college or school will have the appropriate Public Liability coverage. Individuals not participating in college or school programs can apply for Public Liability coverage with insurance companies.
