Mina Wylie was a pioneer in Australian women’s swimming, defying contemporary conservative sporting authorities, and raising her own funds to compete at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912.

Showcase your writing talent by entering Randwick Council’s Lionel Bowen Young Writers’ Awards (LBYWA).
The LBYWA, named after the former Deputy Prime Minister and former Randwick Mayor Lionel Bowen AM, is run biannually in conjunction with the University of NSW.
It is open to all young people from 7 to 18 years of age and entries are in two categories, either a short story/poem or a short play.
There are three age brackets in each category: 7–10 years, 11–14 years and 15-8 years.
