Library book clubs

Our book clubs offer a space for books lovers to read and discuss books on a monthly basis. Currently we hold six monthly book clubs:

  • four clubs mainly reading fiction titles
  • two clubs reading history titles only.

At each book club meeting, there is an informal discussion about the currently selected title and everyone is encouraged to contribute to the discussion. We usually have between ten and fifteen participants in each book club.

At the meetings aspects of the book are discussed, such as:

  • writing style
  • theme
  • author
  • impact it has had on the reader
  • a favourite scene or passage from the book.

For an annual fee of $24.20, members of the book clubs are provided with a copy of each book. Copies of the next title to be discussed are distributed to the members at the conclusion of each monthly meeting. Everyone has an opportunity to make suggestions for future reads.

Several members of our clubs have commented that through the book club they have been introduced to many new authors and that they are reading books that they may not have previously selected.
