Randwick is buzzing with new migrants and has become the place of choice for most migrants to the Eastern Suburbs.
According to the Department of Immigration, between January 2002 and December 2006, 5,487 immigrants arrived in Randwick, most notably from:
- China
- Indonesia
- Malaysia.
During the same period 1,712 migrants settled in Waverley and 1,569 in Woollahra.
Randwick City Council, in response to these statistics and combined with the existing multicultural community, celebrates Carnivale Multicultural Week with a range of activities and events.
Past events and activities have included:
- Multicultural themed movies
- Internet classes for new migrants
- Russian and Chinese storytime for children.
All events are held at Randwick City's libraries in Maroubra, Malabar and Randwick
