The Randwick Award for Literature is a biennial award for published writers of fiction.
A $10,000 prize will be awarded to the work judged to have the highest outstanding literary merit.
Entries are open to authors who have had their work published within the previous two years (March 2008 to March 2010)
Entries for the inaugural award open on 9 April and close on 31 May 2010.
Eligibility
To be eligible to be entered for the Randwick Award for Literature, a work must be:
- a work of fiction in the form of a novel, novella or collection of short stories, and
- in English by an Australian author, and
- published within the previous two years, in line with the dates printed on the official Entry Form for that year.
Entries must fulfil all the entry requirements in the 'How to enter' section of the Entry Form.
Judging
Judging will take place from June to July 2010 when the shortlisted authors will be announced.
The winner of the Randwick Award for Literature will be announced at a function in mid August 2010.

Background
The inaugural Randwick Award for Literature in 2010 is an important part of Randwick City Council's ongoing legacy from our 150th anniversary celebrations in 2009.
The Randwick Award for Literature aims to foster a wide appreciation of literature in our community and stimulate the arts and culture in our City.
It fulfils the 20 year Randwick City Plan and the vision of our Cultural Plan to "foster an environment that recognises, supports and celebrates our community's cultural diversity � and the many forms of creative expression including literature".
