Randwick Youth Council

Randwick Youth Council (RYC)
RYC provides a forum for young people to have a say on community issues that affect them and their peers and to provide input into Council's youth policy development. Involvement in RYC also provides opportunities to plan and manage youth events in Randwick City.

What is RYC?
Each year, up to 12 Youth Council positions are available to young people aged between 15 and 25 years who live within the boundaries of Randwick Council area. Anyone from the Randwick youth community can nominate for a position on RYC for a 12 month tenure period. Tenure will be from July1 to June 30, which will enable the Youth Council to plan and implement National Youth Week activities which are held in March/April each year. Any Youth Councillor can nominate for one of two leadership positions - Youth Mayor and Deputy Youth Mayor.

RYC meetings will take place on a monthly basis, on a day to be confirmed, at the Randwick Council admin building. Meetings will be conducted in accordance with the Terms of Reference and will have an agenda with items that may need to be voted on or actioned. Meetings will be minuted and the Minutes made available on Council's website (see below). Informal meetings to plan events will be held as needed.
