Services for people with disabilities

Council works with Disability Support Services in promoting an awareness of the needs of people with disabilities. Council aims to promote and facilitate improved access to buildings, public places and services.

Council has established an Advisory Committee with membership from peak organisations and community members to promote the awareness of disability issues.

Our information brochure, Services for People with Disabilities, provides information on services to assist people with disabilities and their carers.

For further information on services for people with disabilities, refer to our section on accessibility, or contact us.

Randwick City Council Access Committee

The purpose of the Randwick City Council Access Committee is to provide a forum for people with disabilities, their carers, service poviders and Council officers, to consider how to make the City of Randwick a more accessible and safer place for people with disabilities, how to improve access to services and Council facilities and make recommendations to Council on access issues.

The Committee meets on a monthly basis at Council to discuss and identify a range of access issues impacting on residents living in Randwick City. The Advisory Group consists of councillors, council staff, community representatives and members of local disability support agencies and organisations.

The monthly meetings also involve a guest speaker from various disability support organisations to provide information on available services and programs for people with disabilities, their family members and carers.
