Council's community street tree planting project greens our streets, brings neighbours together, and ensures that street trees are planted and maintained by the community that most benefits from them. It is coordinated by Council's tree management staff, with Council providing tree stock and associated planting materials. Each project needs a minimum of five (5) participants who will assist in the planting and maintenance of the trees during their initial establishment period.
What do you need to do?
- Pick up or download a Community Street Tree Planting Project registration form (pdf 76 kb)
- Get at least five (5) people in your street to sign up
- Return the completed form to Council
Then what?
- One of Council's Tree Preservation and Maintenance officers will contact you to arrange an on-site meeting
- Species selection and positioning will be determined
- On the day, Council will supply all the necessary equipment, along with the trees, for the volunteers to plant
Conditions of participation
Council needs to know who is involved in each project. All participants must fully understand the conditions applied to any volunteers involved.
- On each project there will be a street coordinator appointed. This person will be responsible for coordinating the project to the specifications set by Council.
- Volunteers will carry out work to specifications established by Council through the street coordinator.
- Council will not be liable for injury to persons or damage to property as a result of volunteers participating in tree planting projects.
- The term "street coordinator" refers to a person acting on express instructions of Council on one project only. Appointment does not infer employment or entitlement to benefits of employment.
